There was a lot of media attention around Satori botnet. The distinct lack of source code for it after it was supposedly posted on pastebin must mean it probably didn't exist.
This is not the code

Its a shame mirai was wasted on simple denial of service attacks. They could have had great potential for practical use.

While it does seem like a waste of effort to use it like that, still interesting to see it happen and think about what it could have been used for instead definitely.
